Ed O'Brien Says Radiohead Will Play 20 Shows on a Different Continent Every Year Starting in 2027
"What we're going to do is, every year we're going to do a different continent, and we're going to do 20 shows each year. No more, no less. We want to give absolutely everything each night. We do not ever want it to be like we're going through the motions or we're having to run on empty."
"I was done with Radiohead following their 2018 tour in support of A Moon Shaped Pool. The others said they wanted to tour, I didn't really want to tour, and they knew that. But I did it and I'm glad I did. I saw it through to the end."
Radiohead has established a touring strategy following their successful 2024 comeback tour across the UK and Europe. Beginning in 2027, the band will perform a limited itinerary of 20 shows per year on different continents. This deliberate constraint reflects their commitment to delivering maximum effort each night while acknowledging their age and avoiding exhaustion. Ed O'Brien will focus on promoting his solo album Blue Morpho in 2026, with no Radiohead activities planned that year. Bandmate Jonny Greenwood is also pursuing a separate project. O'Brien previously felt burned out after the 2018 tour but credits the extended break and recent rehearsals with rekindling his enthusiasm for the band. The band has not announced plans for new studio recordings.
