Brian Kennedy to sell his 1m South Circular Road period home
"Kennedy came to the South Circular Road by accident. He had been living in London, where he went from busking in tube stations to renting a flat in Highgate, counting the likes of George Michael among his neighbours. This was followed by a stint living in New York, working on Riverdance on Broadway, where he rented "the most amazing apartment in the West Village"."
Brian Kennedy’s period red brick home at No519 South Circular Road in Dublin has hosted notable guests and memorable parties, including Nell McCafferty and Moya Brennan. Kennedy, known as a sociable home cook and entertainer, will not mark his 60th birthday at the house. The milestone will instead involve a new album and a special show at Vicar Street. He plans to “trade down” to a smaller two-up two-down terraced house elsewhere in Dublin 8, similar to the home he grew up in on the Falls Road in West Belfast in the 1970s. He also reflects on moving from Belfast to London and New York, and on how Dublin’s north-south postcode divisions affect people’s conversations.
