Gardaí made arrests that included a well-known businessman and a former IRA bomber, but both men were released and the case went cold. In 2026, Gardaí carried out new searches to locate the murder weapon and solve the long-standing mystery. The renewed efforts have reopened hopes of identifying those responsible and bringing closure to the case.
