"If we can trade a guy to potentially get a left-handed bat or something like that, we'll consider it,"
"But I think right now we have a really good infield. We do have the depth. We have a long season, 162. We have some veterans that we'd like to give some breaks during the course of a season, and to have this depth is good."
"Right now, both of them are still part of our roster. We have plans for both of them to play. So right now, the plan is for both of them to be there,"
Dana Brown downplayed the possibility of trading infielders while reiterating interest in adding a left-handed bat. The Astros value infield depth to cover a 162-game season and to give veterans occasional rest. Brown said Christian Walker and Isaac Paredes remain part of the roster and there are plans for both to play. Walker carries a $20 million annual contract, struggled offensively and defensively last year, and would likely require Houston to pay down salary to trade. Paredes, at $9.35 million after arbitration, would be more appealing to other teams but lacks an obvious starting spot after Carlos Correa's return.
