Dodgers Lose 3 Players in Rule 5 Draft
"The Los Angeles Dodgers lost three minor leaguers in the Triple-A Phase of the Rule 5 Draft on Wednesday. The Rule 5 Draft is an annual occurrence at the MLB Winter Meetings where teams can draft players left off of other teams' 40-man rosters. The Triple-A phase is similar, but adds prospects who have spent at least four years in the minors and are not in Triple-A to Triple-A teams rather than their major league roster."
"After going undrafted, Reinoso signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers in 2022. He moved to Single-A after just three games in rookie ball that season, through struggled upon his promotion. He slowly rose through the Dodgers' ranks, and made 29 appearances with Double-A Tulsa in 2025. Through those appearances, he had a 4.39 ERA through 41 innings with 36 strikeouts and 39 walks."
"The Dodgers drafted Neeck in the ninth round of the 2022 draft, though he didn't start his professional career until 2023. Like Reinoso, Neeck quickly moved up after a solid showing in the Arizona Complex League, but struggled in his first season. Neeck settled in in 2024, though, posting a 2.85 ERA through 38 appearances out of the bullpen. He began 2025 with Double-A Tulsa, and posted a 5.40 ERA through 39 games."
The Los Angeles Dodgers lost three minor leaguers in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 Draft: right-hander Livan Reinoso, left-hander Brandon Neeck and outfielder Edwin Sanchez. The Triple-A phase allows teams to select eligible minor leaguers left off 40-man rosters who have spent sufficient time in the minors. Reinoso signed with the Dodgers in 2022, advanced to Double-A Tulsa and posted a 4.39 ERA with 36 strikeouts and 39 walks in 41 innings. Neeck, a 2022 ninth-round pick, reached Double-A and posted a 5.40 ERA through 39 2025 games after a 2.85 ERA in 2024. Sanchez, 21, produced an OPS near .900 in the Dominican Summer League and a .877 OPS across 189 professional games.
