Is Guardiola right about Man City's lower net spend?
"a little bit grumpy"
"In net spend the last five years we are seventh,"
"Good luck to the six teams who are in front of us for net spend for the last five years."
Manchester City prioritized net spend rather than headline January outlays, arguing a lower net position over five years when sales are deducted. Footballtransfers.com lists City sixth with a net spend of 324.7m, very near Nottingham Forest on 323m. City rank second in gross spending at 962.3m while Chelsea top at 1.57bn and have recouped 862m. City have brought in about 637.6m from sales, including roughly 280m from academy-developed players such as Cole Palmer (40.9m), James McAtee (22.2m) and Taylor Harwood-Bellis (20m). Academy sales have delivered significant recouped value.
