Bruno Fernandes: Man United captain 'hurt' over failed Saudi move
""More than hurting me, it makes me sad," Fernandes said. "I'm a player that no-one can criticise, I'm always available, I always give my best. "I could have left in this transfer window, I would have earned much more money. "I would have won many trophies this season, but I decided not to go, not only for family reasons but because I genuinely love the club.""
""From the club I felt it was, 'If you go it's not so bad for us'. It hurts me a bit," Fernandes said."
Bruno Fernandes was the subject of strong summer interest from Saudi side Al-Hilal but turned down a proposed move despite reported offers of a large transfer fee and high wages. Fernandes felt the club's stance during the approach suggested his departure would have been acceptable and said that perception hurt and saddened him. He confirmed he chose to stay for family reasons and because he loves the club, while acknowledging he could have earned more and won trophies by leaving. Fernandes remains under contract at Old Trafford until 2027 with an option for an extra year. The midfielder has made over 300 appearances, scored more than 100 goals and provided numerous assists for Manchester United.
