CBS News announced the closure of its Radio News division, affecting 700 affiliate stations. This decision is part of a broader reduction of six percent of the overall staff. CBS Radio News, established in 1927, will cease operations on May 22. The company cited a shift in programming strategies and economic challenges as reasons for the closure. CBS News editor in chief Bari Weiss stated that downsizing certain parts of the newsroom is necessary to remain competitive in the future.
