During the RBC Heritage, Justin Thomas encountered a difficult situation on the 11th hole when his tee shot landed in muddy water. Instead of opting for a penalty stroke, he chose to play from the water, which resulted in splashing mud and water onto himself. After the misfire and a humorous exchange regarding his muddy appearance, Thomas reflected on his shot and noted that he usually finds such situations manageable. With a strong tournament performance so far, he is looking for a victory to end his three-year title drought since May 2022.
"Didn't really seem worth it after that," he joked.
"I thought I hit it so bad that it was going to be short of the water, and it just got in there."
"I said to Joe after the fact, I don't know if I've actually ever hit one out of the water."
