""Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a cash in transit robbery that occurred outside a retail premises on the Newcastle Road, Lucan, Co. Dublin today, Friday 12th December 2025," a spokesperson said. "Shortly before 4:40pm, a number of males robbed a cash in transit vehicle parked near a retail premises. A separate vehicle was set alight and the males left the scene with a quantity of cash in the direction of Somerton Gate."

Shortly before 4:40pm on Friday 12 December 2025, several males robbed a cash-in-transit vehicle parked near a retail premises on Newcastle Road in Lucan, Co. Dublin. The men fled toward Somerton Gate and set a separate vehicle alight behind Lucan Shopping Centre during their escape. Gardaí and emergency services quickly arrived and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported. Gardaí have requested witnesses and asked road users with camera or dashcam footage in the Newcastle Road, Somerton Gate and wider Somerton Estate area between 4:15pm and 5:00pm to contact Lucan Garda station, the Garda Confidential Line, or any Garda station.
