Organisers said multiple vessels were illegally intercepted and boarded in international waters. Taoiseach Micheal Martin said he was receiving briefings, described the voyage as a humanitarian mission posing no danger, and urged proper treatment for those on board. The Department of Foreign Affairs had advised against travel to the area because of the obvious danger.
