Brother reveals Khamzat Chimaev's weight cut issues ahead of UFC 328
"Chimaev had also looked completely drained at the weigh-ins, even getting accused of missing weight."
Khamzat Chimaev faced Sean Strickland at UFC 328 after putting his middleweight title on the line. Chimaev showed early fatigue in the second round and abandoned his wrestling approach. Strickland outpointed Chimaev on the feet to win by split decision, marking Chimaev’s first professional loss. Chimaev appeared drained at the weigh-ins and was accused of missing weight. Artur Chimaev said Khamzat’s body shut down with about 2.7 pounds remaining, and that he did not know how he could fight in that condition. Artur also claimed Khamzat had been promised a light heavyweight bout with Jiri Prochazka, but the UFC later asked him to fight Strickland instead.
