Gilbert Burns discusses delayed concussion symptoms from Michael Morales loss
"The Michael Morales fight was the weird one, because I fell. I wasn't out, but I fell and [my head] got swollen very big, next day bigger. And then the swelling went off and I was good for a week or so."
"On that flight to Vegas, it kind of came back. My head was exploding when I got there. It was sunny and I went to the PI, did a bunch of tests, still had a concussion. Felt nauseous, throwing up, and then we had to readjust all the protocol again."
Gilbert Burns experienced significant damage from a first-round knockout loss to Michael Morales. Initially, Burns seemed fine, but during a flight to Las Vegas, he suffered severe headaches. Tests confirmed he still had a concussion, leading to a month-long recovery routine. Burns described the fight as unusual, noting the swelling in his head and subsequent nausea. After adjusting his recovery protocol, including hyperbaric treatments, he returned to training. Burns is set to face Mike Mallott in Winnipeg on April 18.
