Mike 'The Body Snatcher' McCallum, boxing hall of famer and three-time champion, dies at 68
Briefly

Mike McCallum, known as "The Body Snatcher," was a feared technical boxer who won world titles in multiple weight classes but never fought the era's top fighters. He passed away at age 68 in Las Vegas while en route to a gym. Despite being unable to secure bouts with Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran, Sugar Ray Leonard, or Marvin Hagler, McCallum’s talent shone through in a formidable record of 49-5-1, including 36 knockouts. His legacy is preserved in the boxing community with his induction into the Hall of Fame in 2003 and recognition as the first Jamaican-born champion.
McCallum was the most perfect technical fighter I've ever seen, and he wasn't a pitty-pat guy. None of the 'Four Kings' wanted anything to do with him.
Despite his impressive career and skills, McCallum was unable to secure fights with the major champions of his era, which didn't seem to dampen his spirit.
McCallum’s commitment to impeccable technique resulted in an impressive 49-5-1 record, with 36 KOs, showcasing his ability to finish bouts decisively.
Being the first Jamaican-born champion, McCallum’s impact on the sport goes beyond his records; he remains a significant figure in Jamaican sports history.
