Under the Radar festival will take place from January 7-25, 2026, in over 20 venues in New York City. This 21st edition will feature performances from artists including Narcissister, Cherish Menzo, and Mario Banushi. It will showcase a range of experimental performance forms, such as dance, music, and theater. Following budget cuts, the festival has adapted by partnering with various arts institutions. Leadership will shift in 2026 with shared curatorial duties among a cohort of festival curators, enhancing collaborative exploration and risk-taking in programming.
Under the Radar will take place in over 20 venues across New York City from January 7-25, 2026, showcasing the best of U.S. and international experimental performance.
The festival features performances by notable artists such as Narcissister, Cherish Menzo, and Mario Banushi, exploring dance, music, theater, film, and more.
Due to budget cuts, the festival will not return to its longtime home at the Public Theater, but has adapted by using multiple venues across the city.
Starting in 2026, founder Mark Russell will share curatorial responsibilities with rotating festival curators, promoting communal exploration and risk-taking in leadership.
