In New York City, a nanny named La'Keysha Jackson is being sought after being accused of violently assaulting three young children in her care. Authorities began investigating after the children's grandparents captured footage of the abuse, which included the nanny striking the children 58 times with a belt. Further video evidence revealed additional acts of abuse, including violent incidents involving a 2-year-old. Critics point out previous issues with the child services that had previously assigned caregivers to the family, triggering public outrage and concern as an arrest warrant has now been issued for Jackson.
On May 7, the children's grandparents, using a Nest security camera, allegedly witnessed Jackson physically abusing the two eldest children by striking them with a belt 58 times.
Further review of additional camera footage revealed more incidents of abuse against all three children, including the 2-year-old being slammed into a bed, and other physical and verbal abuse.
