It Looks Like the Adams Campaign Is Using Straw Donors Again
Briefly

Numerous donations to Mayor Eric Adams's reelection campaign are under scrutiny due to potential involvement of straw donors. Seventeen contributions, each for the maximum of $2,100, were mostly from employees of Allstar Homecare Agency. Most of these individual donors are from working-class backgrounds and reportedly could not afford such contributions. Many had not previously donated to NYC politicians and inconsistencies were found, including out-of-state credit card addresses. The campaign has stated it will cooperate with the finance board regarding compliance issues.
Sixteen of the 17 donors had not donated to any New York City politician in the last two decades.
The mother-in-law of one of the donors expressed surprise at the notion that her son-in-law could have given thousands of dollars to Adams' campaign.
The outlet found other discrepancies including donations paid with a credit card with an out-of-state address.
Donations made to the campaign in May appear to have been made by straw donors and were ultimately submitted to the city's public matching funds program.
