Commanders confirm TE Ertz suffered torn ACL
""He has meant a lot to our team, both on and off the field," Quinn said. "He's been an ideal teammate to help set a standard and about habits and so we're all bummed for him.""
""It breaks my heart when you see a great one like him, an all-time great [get hurt]," tight end John Bates said after the game. "He does everything the right way, the way things should be done. He's just a pro""
""serious injury""
Zach Ertz sustained a torn ACL in his right knee late in the third quarter after being hit while jumping for a pass, ending his season. The injury occurred during a 31-0 loss at Minnesota and was confirmed after further testing. Coach Dan Quinn called the injury a serious concern and praised Ertz's leadership and habits. Quarterback Jayden Daniels had his left elbow examined with no long-term concern, but his status for the next game remained uncertain. Ertz, 35, has 825 career receptions, ranking fifth all-time among tight ends, and set a single-season tight end record with 116 catches in 2018.
