Didn't look like Bengals 'wanted it,' Chase says
"DENVER -- Everything looked out of sorts for the Cincinnati Bengals in yet another blowout loss. The offense never got rolling. Penalties abounded. And the defense allowed several big plays in a 28-3 defeat to the Denver Broncos on Monday night. According to Bengals star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, there also appeared to be some key intangibles that were lacking as well. "(The) urgency is there, man," Chase said after the game. "We gotta want it.""
"Cincinnati was called for 11 penalties for 65 yards, numbers that excluded a few that were declined by the Broncos. Chase cited the numerous stalled drives that ended quickly. After a field goal on the game's opening drive that gave the Bengals a 3-0 lead, Cincinnati punted on its final eight possessions. All of them ended on its half of the Kentucky Bluegrass at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium."
The Cincinnati Bengals lost 28-3 to the Denver Broncos, with the offense unable to sustain drives and the defense surrendering several big plays. Cincinnati committed 11 penalties for 65 yards and punted on its final eight possessions after an opening field goal put them up 3-0, with all punts occurring inside their own half. The team totaled 159 offensive yards, marking the first time since 2009 that a team had 200 or fewer yards in three of its first four games. Observers noted a lack of urgency and signs of a defeatist mindset contributing to the lopsided outcome.
