The sideline move functions both as a face-saving gesture and as an attempt to address offensive dysfunction. Sideline proximity permits closer, face-to-face conversations with players and visibility comparable to the box via tablets. Michael Penix Jr. has been slow with plays and the offense has scored just 42 points through three games, its lowest total since 2007. Robinson on the sideline could speed play calls, smooth series-to-series flow, and slightly improve execution, though dramatic turnaround is unlikely.
