What Geno Smith's shoulder injury and Kenny Pickett starting mean for the Raiders
""great opportunity""
""the hell out of him""
""This is exactly how we did it with Geno for years [in Seattle]," Carroll said. "And however long it takes for the opportunity, he's going to be ready to go.""
Geno Smith will miss Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles due to a right shoulder injury. Through 13 games Smith has thrown for 2,648 yards with 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, a 67% completion rate and a QBR of 32.5, ranked 30th in the league. Backup Kenny Pickett is expected to start and received first-team reps throughout the week. Aidan O'Connell will be the primary backup and has served as the team's emergency third quarterback. Raiders coach Pete Carroll praised Pickett's athleticism and thinking and said he prepared him to be ready when an opportunity arose.
