Trevor Zegras recorded 139 points in 180 games during his first three NHL seasons and became known for highlight-reel plays, including a celebrated Michigan-style ally-oop to Sonny Milano on Dec. 7, 2021. He emerged as a face of a generation of young players who mimic trick shots. The next two seasons included injuries, defensive criticism, conflicts with Ducks management, and a decline from 0.77 to 0.53 points per game. Persistent trade rumors caused him "awful" mental anxiety and led to a June trade to the Philadelphia Flyers, where he receives a chance to play center and rebuild in a supportive environment.
