"The New York Rangers play their fourth preseason game tonight on Long Island. Their roster tonight is mostly kids and some veterans that are all looking for roster spots on opening night. At least six forwards in the lineup tonight are vying for two, maybe three spots on the opening night roster. There are also three defensemen vying for two spots as well."
"Tonight will likely end some hopes for a few kids, at least for the short term. As for the Islanders, they are dressing a good portion of the top half of their lineup, sprinkled in with some kids as well. It will be interesting to see how this Rangers lineup handles the likes of Horvat, Barzal, and Drouin with what appears to be most of their starting six on defense."
The New York Rangers play their fourth preseason game on Long Island with a roster composed largely of young players and some veterans competing for opening-night roles. At least six forwards are competing for two or three roster spots, and three defensemen are competing for two spots. Multiple players risk losing short-term opportunities based on performance tonight. The Islanders are dressing many of their higher-end players alongside some youngsters, including forwards Horvat, Barzal, and Drouin, and appear to have most of their starting defense available. Game time is 7pm with Igor Shesterkin and Dylan Garand listed as Rangers goalies.
