"It's been an honor to be your mayor,"
"Although our successes... I know I cannot continue my campaign,"
"I strongly encourage who ever takes over City Hall to continue what we've done."
"I want to be clear, although this is the end of my campaign, this will not be the end of my public service,"
"I will keep fighting for our city no matter what because I am a New Yorker."
Mayor Eric Adams withdrew from New York City's mayoral race after weeks of uncertainty and mounting pressure to clear the crowded field. Adams trailed in polls, ranking fourth behind Zohran Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa. He announced the decision in a video, cited first-term victories, and said he could not continue his campaign while pledging ongoing public service. He did not endorse any candidate and warned against electing officials who flip-flop or use local government to launder radical ideals. The Justice Department dismissed his federal corruption case, and national figures reportedly engaged in talks to influence withdrawals.
