Rapper Sheff G, legal name Michael Williams, was sentenced to five years in prison and five years of supervised release after reaching a plea deal and pleading guilty to two counts of attempted murder and a conspiracy charge. He admitted using earnings from his music career to fuel gang violence connected to long-term investigations into Brooklyn shootings. The 27-year-old artist has millions of YouTube views and Spotify streams and appeared onstage at a May 23, 2024 rally with Donald Trump. More than 30 alleged members of the 8 Trey Crips and 9 Ways gangs were indicted; 23 pleaded guilty and seven cases remain pending. Rapper Tegan Chambers, known as Sleepy Hallow, pleaded guilty to a conspiracy count and received a one-year sentence.
