"There is no longer a majority of votes from Brooklyn State Committee members/district leaders in the Executive Committee to support the governor's reelection."
"This is a response to the political miscalculation on the part of the governor's campaign and their failure to engage or consult Brooklyn Democratic leaders who represent New York's largest Democratic delegation. Major statewide political decisions require meaningful collaboration with the party leaders and elected officials who organize, mobilize and deliver Democratic victories."
"We believe Democrats must make strong and strategic political decisions particularly during challenging election cycles."
"The county party is not planning to support Delgado, who's running a longshot campaign challenging the governor from the left. But the committee members said they are "prone to voting against" nominating Hochul, or abstaining from the vote."
Brooklyn Democratic Party leaders withdrew their endorsement of Governor Kathy Hochul after learning she selected former NYC Council Speaker Adrienne Adams as her running mate. Party leader Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn convened an emergency call with about 25 district leaders and the executive committee agreed to rescind support just two days before the state Democratic Party nominating convention in Syracuse. The committee cited a political miscalculation and a failure to engage Brooklyn Democratic leaders who represent the state's largest Democratic delegation. The county party will not back Antonio Delgado but may vote against or abstain from nominating Hochul, and the move drew criticism from prominent borough Democrats.
