David Stearns confirmed that Carlos Mendoza will return as New York Mets manager for 2025. Mendoza finished his second season with an 83-79 record after leading the team to an 89-73 finish and an NLCS berth in 2024. The Mets began 2025 with a 45-24 record, the best in baseball at the time, then went 38-55 over the final three months and missed the postseason on the last day, finishing behind Cincinnati for the final wild-card spot. Owner Steve Cohen apologized to fans. An evaluation of the entire coaching staff will occur next week.
