Yanks continue to deal, get utilityman Rosario
Briefly

The New York Yankees acquired Amed Rosario from the Washington Nationals in exchange for two minor leaguers. He has played at multiple positions, including third base and second base, offering flexibility to the Yankees. Unlike another recent acquisition, Ryan McMahon, Rosario will be a free agent after this season. The transaction cost the Yankees a right-handed pitcher from Triple-A, Clayton Beeter.
The New York Yankees acquired utilityman Amed Rosario from the Washington Nationals in exchange for two minor leaguers, bringing in a versatile right-handed hitter they sought before the July 31 trade deadline.
Rosario is batting .270 with five home runs and a .736 OPS this season, but his .299 average and .816 OPS against left-handed pitchers makes him particularly valuable as a part-time player.
Defensively, Rosario provides manager Aaron Boone with a multipurpose piece, having started games at third base, second base, outfield, and shortstop throughout his nine-year career.
Unlike Ryan McMahon, who is under contract for two more seasons, Rosario will become a free agent after this season and the Yankees will pay him a balance of $2 million.
