The Yankees faced a disappointing defeat against Atlanta, losing 7-3. Starter Ian Hamilton failed to deliver, conceding three runs early. The Yankees' lineup, filled with left-handed batters, only managed three hits against Spencer Strider. They scored in the seventh with a two-run double from Giancarlo Stanton, but late-game efforts fell short. A key baserunning error by Jorbit Vivas added to the frustration, leading to a critical double play. The Yankees now trail the AL East-leading Blue Jays by three games after three consecutive losses.
"It was hittable and I wasn't getting the ball past people and should have made some better pitches," said Hamilton.
The Yankees, who had eight hits, got on the board in the seventh on a two-out, two-run double by pinch hitter Giancarlo Stanton off lefthander Aaron Bummer.
Other than Ben Rice's double in the eighth, his second of the night, the Yankees went down quietly in the final two innings.
Vivas was thrown out at third on a Dave Parker-esque throw by Ronald Acuna Jr. for a double play that ended the inning.
