Barking and Dagenham council recently celebrated Volunteers' Week from June 2 to June 8, honoring community volunteers who generously dedicate their time to support vulnerable individuals and protect local heritage. During the event, 332 volunteers contributed a remarkable 19,398 hours across community hubs. The council presented 'Star of the Year' awards to seven individuals, with Freddy Thompson receiving the 'Volunteer of the Year' for his exceptional service at local heritage sites. Councillor Saima Ashraf highlighted the valuable impact of volunteers on the community.
The council hosted an event to appreciate local heroes. The 'Star of the Year' awards were given to seven people, and Freddy Thompson was the proud recipient of the 'Volunteer of the Year' award for his relentless support at Eastbury Manor House and Valence House.
