Briefly

Marco Gehlhar, a Munich-born photographer, delves into themes of new religious movements and ufology through his work. His book, The Great Filter, discusses the potential extinction of mankind in relation to the search for extraterrestrial life, reflecting on scientific, religious, and cultural viewpoints. Gehlhar's early interest in cryptozoology and influences like The X-Files shaped his creative vision. Selected as a winner of the Art & Photo Book Awards, he is currently promoting opportunities for new book and zine projects, supporting artistic endeavors in the photographic community.
My early influences had not much to do with photography but much more with the weird and bizarre in general. Around age 10, I developed a passion for cryptozoology.
In his book, The Great Filter, Marco explores the connection between the potential extinction of the human species and the search for extraterrestrial life.
