"On Wednesday 22 July 2015, a 23-year-old man named Brett Rogers stabbed his mother and her friend 97 times, using seven different knives, over the course of an hour. Immediately afterwards, he made the short walk to the childhood home of comedian Edd Hedges, the boy he had bullied throughout school, and set about trying to break his door down."

On 22 July 2015, 23-year-old Brett Rogers stabbed his mother and her friend 97 times, then attempted to force entry into the childhood home of comedian Edd Hedges. Hedges and his parents barricaded themselves until police arrived. Rogers was arrested and sentenced to a minimum of 32 years; he was later killed in his cell. Hedges later wove the incident into a solo show, which attracted documentary producer Jodi Tovay. Tovay investigated the case and, after Rogers's death, produced Wisecrack, a six-part podcast that examines the backstory of the crimes, explores bullying dynamics, and partnered with charities to contextualize the events.
