"By acquiring Ookla, we will help our clients across business and government scale AI safely and build the trusted data foundations they need to deliver the reliable, seamless connectivity that creates value."
"Using Speedtest, Ookla gathers, aggregates, and analyzes data for billions of mobile network samples daily, which measure radio signal levels, network coverage, and availability, and quality of experience metrics for a number of connected experiences, such as streaming video, video conferencing, gaming, web browsing, and CDN and cloud provider performance."
"Downdetector Explorer is a monitoring tool that's supposed to help businesses detect outages. Customers include streaming services, banks, social networks, and communication service providers."
Accenture is acquiring Ookla, owner of Speedtest and Downdetector, to enhance its ability to serve business and government clients with AI-enabled connectivity solutions. Speedtest measures internet speed and network performance metrics from billions of daily mobile samples, serving telecommunications operators, regulators, analysts, and nonprofits. Downdetector monitors service outages for streaming services, banks, and communication providers. Under the acquisition, Accenture will leverage data from both platforms to inform client solutions while users will be subject to new privacy policies and potential changes Accenture implements.
