Nationwide hacking of students' private photos reaches CSU East Bay
Briefly

A civil lawsuit filed in Alameda County has exposed a significant privacy scandal involving Mike Weiss, a former football coach at the University of Michigan, and California State University, East Bay. Allegations state that Weiss hacked into the personal data of over 150,000 student-athletes, targeting female athletes specifically to obtain intimate photographs. The lawsuit aims not only for compensation for the victims but also to encourage policy changes in universities to better protect student information. The Department of Justice has charged Weiss with multiple counts of unauthorized computer access and identity theft.
This should never happen to any students again. We are calling for policies to protect student information, Bonanni said.
Weiss allegedly gained unauthorized access to the private information of more than 150,000 student athletes from more than 100 colleges and universities.
