Jewish rights organizations are encouraging shareholders of Alphabet, Google's parent company, to oppose a proposal demanding an investigation into the human rights implications of its cloud services in relation to Israel's Project Nimbus. The plan, up for a vote at Alphabet's annual meeting, is seen by critics as a veiled attempt to undermine Israel's security by restricting vital technology. The proposal has received backing from the Anti-Defamation League, who argue it aligns with BDS movement goals aimed at delegitimizing Israel, while also misrepresenting the nature of Project Nimbus, which serves both military and civilian purposes.
Proposal 9 offers the pretense of concern for human rights when in fact it is a thinly disguised ploy to weaken Israel's national security.
We believe this proposal is closely aligned with the objectives of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, whose goal is to delegitimize the State of Israel.
