Paul Davis, 38, pleaded guilty to criminal damage at Rathfarnham Garda Station, as well as threatening and abusive behavior at Marlay Park while intoxicated. At the festival, he was observed arguing with security staff in an aggressive manner. After being approached by Garda, he was pepper sprayed and arrested for his behavior. In custody, Davis urinated on a cell door. He has 54 prior convictions but had been drug-free for 10 months. Davis claimed cannabis wasn't a drug, prompting a judge to highlight its chemical properties and potential dangers. A three-month prison sentence was suspended for 12 months, and he was fined €200.
Cannabis isn't a drug - it's a plant.
Oh, well then you think heroin is just a plant?
There are plenty of chemicals in cannabis too. There are chemicals in it you'd find under your kitchen sink - it's not some little plant growing from your windowsill.
That kind of attitude shows a complete naivety about drugs. Those are the kinds of plants that will ruin your life.
