Meanwhile, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and the Bronx all had intersections with eight deaths or serious injuries over the same period. The three in Staten Island were all along Victory Boulevard, where it intersects with Loop Road, Canterbury Avenue, and Clove Road"
Transportation Alternatives, Families for Safe Streets, and Open Plans jointly analyzed recent crash data and identified 12,261 New Yorkers killed or seriously injured since the start of 2022. The analysis identified 118 intersections where five or more people suffered deaths or serious injuries during that period. Manhattan and Queens contain the highest-count intersections, with several Manhattan locations and Northern Boulevard and 48th Street in Queens each recording nine deaths or serious injuries. Brooklyn, Staten Island, and the Bronx each have intersections with eight such incidents. The data accompany advocacy for a bill to outlaw parking near crosswalks to improve safety.
