Billionaire Michael Dell buys nearly 500 acres of Hawaii land
"The founder and CEO of Dell Technologies, Michael Dell, purchased 491 acres of land on Hawaii Island. The sale took place in late August, according to Pacific Business News, and cost an estimated $400 million. The purchase involved land on the Kona coastline underneath the Four Seasons Hualalai Resort and golf course. Dell already owned the resort but the land on which it sat was previously leased."
"In 2006, Dell purchased the resort from previous owner Kajima Corporation for more than $285 million through his family investment firm MSD Capital under Hualalai Investors, LLC. "Assets under management by MSD Capital currently exceed Ten Billion Dollars ($10,000,000,000)," according to a 2014 public document with the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission. Hualalai Investors also owns a water and wastewater company."
"For nearly 20 years, Dell had been leasing the Hualalai resort grounds from the landowner Kamehameha Schools, a private trust founded by the will of Hawaiian Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop to improve the education of Native Hawaiians. Kamehameha Schools is the largest private landowner in the state, with nearly 370,000 acres, and its endowment has an estimated $4.7 billion in Hawaii real estate."

Dell's net worth is about $140 billion and he owns other Hawaii properties.
