"The 56 plaintiffs say management has unfairly changed rules, allowed facilities to deteriorate, billed them for arbitrary fees, gouged them on electricity and eliminated amenities, all with the intent to drive them out so the owners can charge new tenants higher rents. All roads lead to money, one of the residents' attorneys, Nima Farahani, said in an interview. People who have lived there a long time don't pay much."
Olive Dell sits on 136 acres above Reche Canyon and contains RVs, mobile homes and rental mini-cabins. In August 2024 an elderly couple, Daniel and Stephanie Menard, and their dog were slain and dismembered, and a neighbor was arrested. After investigators left, 56 residents filed a Superior Court lawsuit alleging owners changed rules, neglected maintenance, billed arbitrary fees, gouged electricity charges and removed amenities to force longtime residents out and raise rents. Owners renamed the site Olive Dell RV Park and Resort after buying it in 2019. Residents report even a ban on nudity and demands to wear clothes.
