Skenes finished the 2025 season with a 1.97 ERA after pitching six shutout innings in his final start on Sept. 24. The former No. 1 overall pick was the first qualified pitcher aged 23 or younger with a sub-2.00 ERA since Dwight Golden in 1985. Dunne attended Skenes' last start and the pair, both former LSU stars, publicly supported each other's careers after confirming their relationship in 2023.
