Western allies, through a new Multilateral Sanctions Monitoring Team report, have condemned Russia and North Korea for violating UN sanctions amid the ongoing war in Ukraine. The 29-page document details the military support North Korea has provided to Russia, including artillery, weapons, and over nine million rounds of ammunition. This partnership has reportedly allowed Russia to intensify its missile attacks on Ukrainian cities, targeting civilian infrastructure and resulting in significant humanitarian consequences. The report reveals the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia, further indicating escalating military collaboration.
More than 11,000 North Korean troops have been deployed to Russia since October 2024, gaining battlefield experience while supporting Russia's war effort.
Citing intelligence from an unnamed country, the monitoring team said that as many as nine million artillery and rocket rounds were delivered from North Korea to Russia last year.
