McDonald's is set to re-release the Snack Wrap, almost nine years after discontinuation, driven by strong consumer demand and changing market dynamics. The Snack Wrap, originally launched to provide a portable chicken option, was phased out in 2016 due to kitchen complexity. Loyal fans continued to advocate for its return, evidenced by a Change.org petition and significant social media attention. The new release could help attract cost-conscious customers amid inflation and cater to health-oriented diners seeking lighter fast-food options.
"We listen to our fans, and the Snack Wrap's return is a testament to that," McDonald's U.S. President Joe Erlinger told The Associated Press.
"I'm not actually a fast-food fan, but the Snack Wrap was an easy and healthy option for me that I loved to have on hand."
A Change.org petition asking McDonald's to bring back the Snack Wrap has nearly 19,000 signatures. A TikTok video showing a U.S. food reviewer eating Snack Wraps in Ireland - where they're still sold - racked up more than 1.4 million views.
The Snack Wrap's lower price point could lure back inflation-weary customers, who have been eating fewer fast-food meals in recent months.
