Zac Farro, the drummer of Paramore, has announced his debut solo album titled 'Operator', set to release on July 18 via Congrats. The leading single 'My My' marks a stylistic shift towards country-folk, differing from his previous endeavors with Halfnoise. Farro describes 'My My' as a deeply personal reflection on the silent pain of watching a loved one let go. The album includes nine songs written by Farro, tackling themes of family issues and anxieties. Musicians Josh Gilligan and Chancey Pierce join him in this endeavor, distinguishing his solo work from his contributions to Paramore and Halfnoise.
'My My' is a personal song about witnessing a loved one try to let go of someone they care for deeply,' explained Farro. 'That kind of silent pain. This song holds a lot of weight and captures those moments of reflection and processing that run throughout the album.'
After years of recording music under the moniker Halfnoise, Farro decided to record a new album under his own name after exploring 'deeply personal' subjects in a new batch of songs, such as family issues, anxieties, and communication breakdowns.
Farro started the band Halfnoise mere days after he originally departed Paramore in 2010. His band has gone on to release five albums since then, the most recent of which, City Talk, came out in 2023.
Despite rejoining Paramore as a permanent member in 2016, Farro has maintained the activity of Halfnoise, which is still active today as Paramore continues to release new music.
