SF Neo-Futurists' "Blackest Wrench" (30 Plays in 60 Minutes)
"The San Francisco Neo-Futurists are a collective of wildly prolific writer/director/performers who create theater that is a fusion of sport, poetry and living-newspaper. They strive to create performance that conveys experiences and ideas as directly and honestly as possible."
A Juneteenth one-night performance brings back The Blackest Wrench as a special edition of The Infinite Wrench. The show presents 30 original plays in 60 minutes, with each piece written by the ensemble and performed as themselves. The format creates a rapid-fire collage of moments that can be funny, intimate, confrontational, surprising, and deeply personal. Play lengths vary from seconds to longer stretches, and no two pieces are alike. The performance is presented as real, live theater that moves quickly while landing with impact, celebrating Black identity and beyond. The ensemble has created thousands of original short plays since 2013 and has received multiple local awards.
