The Decemberists, SF Symphony team up for what should be fantastic show
"The Decemberists are awesome enough on their own. But add the San Francisco Symphony to the mix? Wow, that absolutely sounds like it would be one of the best shows of the season. Bay Area indie-pop fans will get to find out for themselves when The Decemberists combine forces with the San Francisco Symphony at lovely Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco on Oct. 10."
"We're expecting that the pairing will prove quite natural, especially given the bold, sweeping nature of the group's folk-based compositions. And conductor Edwin Outwater, who was also leading the San Francisco Symphony during the famed "S&M 2" shows with Metallica at Chase Center in 2019, certainly seems like the right person to pull this whole collaboration together. The program has not yet been announced -"
The Decemberists will perform with the San Francisco Symphony at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco on Oct. 10 as part of a short run that also includes Seattle and Portland. These are the group's first shows with symphony orchestras since 2007. The collaboration pairs the band's bold, sweeping folk-based compositions with lush symphonic arrangements under conductor Edwin Outwater, who previously led the orchestra during the famed "S&M 2" shows with Metallica. The program has not yet been announced, though potential selections include songs from The Hazards of Love and The Crane Wife. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.; tickets start at $175 at sfsymphony.org.
