Snyder, a federal employee and National Labor Relations Board Union member, was furloughed. The National Labor Relations Board handles charges when employees allege rights violations such as wrongful termination for union organizing, but the shutdown delays investigations and denies federal employees timely access to remedies. Further federal job cuts would undermine disaster relief, food support, veterans' health care, public safety, and democratic protections.
