Ex-KVTU anchor Frank Somerville charged in 2024 battery case week after arrest
"According to Alameda County court records, the misdemeanor battery charge was filed on Sept. 22, stemming from an alleged altercation on Nov. 19, 2024. The woman in the alleged battery is being identified in court records as a Jane Doe, Somerville's attorney, Shannon Dugan, told SFGATE. "It happened when he was drunk," Dugan said. "He's not trying to shirk responsibility at all in this. In fact, he would like to resolve it.""
"At the time, the Oakland Police Department told SFGATE it was investigating an alleged assault that occurred before 5:45 p.m. on Arlington Avenue; however, OPD did not name Somerville in its statement. Somerville allegedly attacked his daughter after she grabbed his phone over a money dispute, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Somerville reportedly held her by the neck so tightly that she nearly lost consciousness, and he allegedly told police a different version of events, saying he was attempting to restrain his daughter."
