The Hubble Space Telescope captured LEDA 1313424, nicknamed the Bullseye Galaxy. A smaller blue galaxy appears just below the Bullseye and is believed to have crashed through the larger galaxy's heart about 50 million years ago. The collision produced enormous concentric rings expanding outward, resembling ripples in a pond. The rings trace the gravitational and dynamical response of the larger galaxy to the intruder.
