Gus Kenworthy is a 34-year-old dual British and American citizen, born in Chelmsford and raised in Telluride, Colorado. Kenworthy came out of retirement in May 2025 to compete in his fourth Winter Olympics, having won silver in Sochi 2014 while representing the United States and having competed in PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022. The decision to ski for Team GB drew negative reaction, including being called a traitor. Kenworthy explains that he originally chose the United States in 2014 because he lived there and won a medal, that short timing prevented an earlier switch, and that strong US team competition influenced his move to Team GB.
