Vonn, 41, earns 1st WCup downhill win since 2018
""It was an amazing day, I couldn't be happier, pretty emotional,""
""I felt good this summer but I wasn't sure how fast I was. I guess I know now how fast I am.""
Lindsey Vonn won a World Cup downhill in St. Moritz, achieving her first victory in nearly eight years after a five-year retirement and titanium implants in her right knee. The 41-year-old finished 1.16 seconds ahead of Mirjam Puchner despite trailing by 0.61 after the first two time checks. Magdalena Egger later moved into second, reducing Vonn's margin to 0.98. Vonn reached 119 kph and posted the fastest bottom-half splits on the sunlit Corviglia course above 2,000 meters. Vonn is working with coach Aksel Lund Svindal and is targeting Olympic gold at Milan Cortina.
